Supporting NIH to respond effectively to biological threats.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, US Army, and agencies in the Department of Health and Human Services are currently supporting projects to develop new products to protect the public from the health consequences resulting from the use of biological threat agents. LTS supports NIH's extramural and intramural efforts to develop new and improved diagnostic tests, vaccines, and therapies necessary to respond effectively to biological threats.
By providing Scientific Review Administrators (SRAs) and extramural peer review support, LTS contributes to one of the highest priorities that NIH/NIAID is responsible for today. Senior staff members also help develop important flu pandemic and preparedness policies. LTS has completed biodefense projects in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan through the HHS office of Global Health Affairs.
